Shannon & Max | Carrie Furnace Wedding | Pittsburgh PA Wedding Photography

If you've ever wondered what a wedding at Carrie Furnace looks like, check out this blog post. It was such a unique location and Shannon and Max combined the industrial setting with elegant decorations perfectly! We did a kind of backwards first look because Shannon's train was so long, we didn't want to make her move around too much inside the Furnace area, so Max walked up behind her for their first look but it was amazing! And what's better than awesome weather, great food, live band and beautiful wedding? We can't wait to go back!

The wedding started out at the Hampton Inn at the Waterfront in Homestead where the bridal party was getting ready. The detail shots and some group shots were done in the rooms where each side of the bridal party was getting dressed. We also did some photos of Shannon at the Carrie Furnace in her dress before the ceremony. The juxtaposition of the lacy bridal dress and the industrial furnace just worked. We had Max walk up behind her (a reverse first look) because we didn't want her to move around too much in the dusty room, but it was amazing! As soon as Max saw that train, he said, "Wow!" even before she turned around.

The ceremony was outside the furnace, in the space between all the rusty metal buildings. Shannon entered from the top of the stairs of one of the buildings, meeting her brother halfway down. Then he walked her the rest of the way down the aisle. Max and Shannon were married by the mayor of Swissvale, Deneen Swartzwelder.

After the ceremony we went back up into the furnace buildings to take some bridal party portraits and walked around the the back where there was a super cool graffiti wall. We took more bridal party pictures there. The main theme of the wedding was music. Shannon made a record with the words "Just Married" to use for a prop, which went along perfectly with the rest of the decorations.

The reception was set up in a large tent next to the buildings. Big Black Grill was there with their grills getting ready to serve bbq dinner, the live band was rockin' and the guests were taking photos with the polaroid cameras that Shannon provided to make a unique guest book. The weather was perfect for an outdoor wedding, the guests were able to walk around and check out some of the historic furnace. And the dancing went on all through the night.

It was such an amazing day, I'm so glad Shannon asked me to be a part of it and I can't wait to go back.
